| Customer Interface / Business Development Engineer required within defence sector. Based in Plymouth with regular international Travel. Salary £33-36K + benefits. A leading supplier of mission critical hardware into the defence sector currently requires a Business Development Engineer to further develop business with international clients. This position will ideally suit candidates with an engineering background and experience of working in the defence sector. Someone who will already have experience with Customer interface/sales and is looking to progress in a commercial / customer / business focused career path. The role will have responsibility for generating and securing profitable sales orders within designated market sectors across our International markets (i.e. outside US, UK and Europe), further developing existing accounts and targeting new customers. Through close liaison with clients and market analysis you will be expected to identify and deliver a full range of opportunities, extending from discrete projects through to major long-term relationships. Key Responsibilities - Identifying and winning new business opportunities. - Formulating and implementing successful business capture plans for major sales prospects. - Preparing successful winning proposals. - Understanding the customer's technical requirements and directing them to the right product. - Upkeep of the orders and sales forecast and the customer contact management database. - Assisting in the formulation of product strategies. - Attendance at trade shows and exhibitions. The ideal candidate will be degree qualified (or equivalent) in an electronics or related discipline, will have a technical background and the ability to communicate at all levels within the customer company and liaise internally with management, technical, project and contracts staff . International mobility is also essential for this role which will require extensive travel worldwide (approximately 1 week out of 4). The Business Development Engineer will be based in Plymouth, and it is essential that you either live within commuting distance, or would be happy to relocate to the area. The Salary offered for the position will be ca. £33-36K (depending on experience) + benefits (further details to be discussed at interview level).
