| Excellent opportunity for a Mechanical design engineer with a background of complex machinery development or plastic injection molding design experience My client, a developer of highly complex special purpose machinery, have an opening for a Senior Mechanical Development Engineer. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and competent mechanical design engineer ideally with analytical skills in FEA. Knowledge of vibration and dynamics would be beneficial. The position available is senior engineer for new equipment products and will also involve leading projects. The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, an extremely positive and professional attitude towards working as a team to strict project plans and schedules. A flexible work ethic and good team working are essential. An attitude to continuous improvement and high quality product design and output is essential. This is an exciting challenge for an ambitious and capable professional mechanical engineer who is looking to apply their existing skills in full and to develop further career opportunities in the future. Candidates must be prepared to travel abroad, and work extended hours if/when required. Travel to the US, Far East, and Europe is likely, in order to gather requirements, participate in design discussions, support installation and debug of equipment in the customers premises. The candidate will work in and be involved with team members in the following areas:- - Product mechanical design and development - Component dimensioning and tolerancing - Product documentation, release and change control - Rapid Prototyping manufacture and testing - Component manufacturing - liaise with purchasing engineers (mainly metalwork, precision components & plastics) - Component supplier liaison (interfacing with vendors) - Interface with manufacturing, assembly and test departments - Product reliability and performance testing (clean rooms, mechanical, thermal & vibration) - Automation and precision motion Systems Prerequisites - Solidworks 3D CAD modeling system or equivalent - A minimum second class honors degree or HND in mechanical engineering - Experience in product mechanical design and development - A quality focus and approach within an ISO9000/2000 environment - Experience in design of mechanical structures - Application of FMEA - Application of DFMA - Rapid Prototyping manufacture and testing - Component dimensioning and tolerancing including good knowledge of GD&T - Product documentation, release and change control - Must be able to demonstrate sufficient experience in line with that expected of a competent senior engineer in mechanical/ electromechanical design and development - A thorough working knowledge of 3D modeling systems mechanical design / drafting methods. - Must demonstrate a capable knowledge of FEA Desirable - Understanding of vibration and dynamics - Product reliability and performance testing (mechanical, thermal & vibration) - Manufacturing methods and process design - Experience in Automation systems involving mechanisms, pneumatics, control systems - Familiarity of CFD and thermal engineering To apply for this position, candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK Matchtech Group Plc is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy. | ||
