| This is an opportunity to work as a software engineer for a growing company specialising in encryption technology for the defence industry. All candidates should have worked across the full software lifecycle and be eligable to gain security clearance. Reporting to the Software Technical Lead, the Software Engineer (SE) will become part of a multidisciplinary team working alongside both software and hardware engineers. The SE will assist in the design, development and test of software systems/subsystems on one or more projects. The SE works under the guidance of the Software Technical Lead (or Senior Software Engineer) ensuring that best practice and defined company process is followed for all activities assigned to them. The SE will have experience of the whole software project lifecycle, from requirements analysis through to system test, and be able to apply that knowledge, with guidance, to new and existing products and projects within the company. Main Responsibilities/Key Tasks * Requirements Analysis and Capture, Requirements Management using the company's approved toolset. * Design and implement software for variety of security solutions as required to support project or product development objectives. * Design software tests and test documentation to ensure the correct functioning of the company's products. * Produce high quality, formally reviewed software designs using current techniques and the company's design toolset. * Produce high quality, formally reviewed software using the company's approved development tools, processes and standards. * Follow the configuration management and version control processes for all of the subsystems on which the SE is working. * Defect resolution and the recording of actions taken in the company's defect tracking tools. * Conduct formal and peer reviews of all software artefacts produced. Key Skills * Object Oriented Analysis and design. * An understanding of the following design principles: - Modularity - Extensibility - Patterns - Abstraction - Reuse - Generics * C/C++ Programming and the use of its standard libraries. * The ability to debug software quickly and effectively. * Having an understanding of the following is also highly desirable: unit testing frameworks and the ability to write effective unit tests, network programming, assembly language programming, x86 architecture, hardware programming and device driver models, ATA and USB protocols, multi-threaded development and an understanding of encryption technologies.
