Job Description:
Our client is looking for an individual to lead and develop their station chemistry strategies with regards to their Nuclear New Build (NNB) programme.

This position requires a strong inspirational and an innovative leader to support the achievement of New Nuclear Build targets. You must be focused on achieving engineering excellence and able to demonstrate high ethical behaviour, integrity and character. This role will initially be responsible for developing the processes for chemistry and radio chemistry in accordance with international best practice and is critical to the achievement of both a nuclear site licence and future safe and reliable operation.

You will develop the future station chemistry strategies and processes by liaising with the appropriate divisions within the company, our clients existing both in the UK and abroad and interfacing with the NII. As the NNB team grows, you will be required to manage and motivate a small team of technical staff. You will fulfil an essential role in the support of project targets and the implementation of chemistry processes for the project and for the successful operation of the stations. The post holder will have to develop chemistry work programmes, and be involved in achieving key targets for related work programmes.

Initially you will be required to work with the project Team to develop NNB processes to ensure that this meets the requirements of the site licence arrangements.

You will maintain clear communications with NII on matters of licensing process. You will develop commissioning chemistry strategies and aligned processes and develop the station chemistry manual and regimes, including laboratory practice and techniques. You will support the NNB leadership team in the achievement of all work programmes. This includes forward planning of resources and the provision of a short, medium and long term resource management plan.

The successful candidate will ensure international chemistry best practices are employed on the commissioning and operational sites, where necessary liaising with international bodies and the appropriate departments within our clients company. You will manage and motivate a small team who will be accountable for the delivery of targets in support of New Nuclear Build in the area of chemistry and radio chemistry.

You will ensure that a high standard of health, safety, quality and environment management prevails throughout all areas of responsibility and that performance is maintained within parameters defined by the NNB .

You will be degree qualified in a related discipline and have experience within the nuclear industry. We are extremely interested in receiving applications from candidates that have chemistry and radio chemistry management experience in light water nuclear power plant.

You will have practical experience of project management and be able to display excellent communication and organisational skills. You will have a good understanding of quality arrangements required in UK nuclear regulated environment as well as a good knowledge of health and safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements. You will have a proven track record in a chemistry related environment.
