| One of Matchtechs clients in Essex are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding team. As part of a consortium of European companies, the company is developing a new application for cleaning heat exchangers. They now need to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer from a R&D background to work with our team to develop an exciting and globally unique product. The candidate must be a proven all-rounder with a hands on approach and be experienced in CAD software. Key functions/responsibilities *Work with the Technical Director to design retrofit modifications to existing and new build shell and tube (not plate) heat exchangers. *Source all materials, Hardware, Software and facilities required for the development of the project *Design, develop, analyse and documents product designs which meet the functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability and safety requirements of the project. *Progressing project through all stages of development from design to prototype, application and maintenance. *Ensuring all projects are carried out in accordance with Thema, Asme, Legislation etc and all safety guidelines *Maintaining project plans, recording progress and writing detailed reports. *Compile research and development reports. *Disseminate reports for consortium members Key requirements *Able to work from first principles and provide a leading role in mechanical development. *Looking for a skilled design engineer in any field of manufacturing within heavy industry - oil, gas, petrochemical, power, pharmaceutical, aerospace, automotive, food etc *Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar *Experienced 'all rounder' from an R&D mechanical engineering background with CAD design capabilities. *This is a hands on role involving all aspects of development, specification, analysis design, optimisation, prototype test etc *Experience of leading multi discipline / multi cultural teams with delivery responsibility. *Ability to negotiate, influence, communicate at all levels *Excellent leadership and communication skills *Ability to work to rigid timeframes and in an organized and diligent fashion *Excellent written and verbal English *Strong IT Skills and a High Level user of MS Software required *If candidate is self employed they must be able to invoice us as an individual NOT as a company. *Good work ethic and ability to work flexible hours as required. *Willingness to travel.
