| This is an opportunity to work for a market leader for high criticality control systems in the oil and gas industry. All candidates should be eligible to work in the UK and have exposure to safety critical or highly regulated embedded software. To produce software/firmware for use company range of safety related products. This will entail detailed design, coding and documentation to fulfil the requirements of the product specifications and IEC 61508. Main duties: Produce Design Specifications and supporting design documentation. To generate software / firmware code Carry out design testing Support the manufacturing phase Software design and documentation to meet the requirements of IEC 61508 standard Requirements: Software design for use in the high integrity / safety environment Qualification to degree level or equivalent Experienced writing code using real time embedded 'C' Experience with Microsoft Visual C++, Borland Delphi, greenhills RTOS, assembler for Motorola power PC and using structured design process such as Yourdon would be a distinct advantage. Good awareness of the safety and control sector, design trends, applications and standards would be a distinct advantage - for example DO-178b, SIL, CMMI.
