| Design Engineer
We are supporting a global, diverse technology leader and the World's largest and most successful engine company. Our client leads the field in the design and manufacture of high-performance engines. Their continuous development programme, dedicated to furthering engine design allows them to offer one of the most advanced and comprehensive ranges of purpose-built diesel engines available today. The Rotating Components team is one of seven component centred multi-functional groups dedicated to the delivery of quality, on-time and cost effective designs. The responsibility for the components runs from initial concept, right through production, to eventual deletion. Components and Systems:
The Role:
Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role include initiating ideas, evaluating new products, processes or systems, Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
Contribute to the design of new products and processes Perform product and process maintenance Support other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers Have design responsibility for Timing Case & Gear train components from concept through validation and into production, to time, cost and quality targets Develop and maintain activity and resource plans for design related tasks of the programme Maintain manufacturing assembly and service procedures for engine components Support supplier development and APQP process Support Design FMEAs and Design Reviews as appropriate Take ownership for the resolution of quality issues associated with their components Liaison with other business units CAE, Manufacturing, Marketing, Product Teams Produce technical reports
Requirements:
Engineering Degree or related experience and demonstrated competency
Good understanding of component design and mechanics Experience of Pro-E, 6 Sigma, FMEA, APQP and 8D problem solving would be a benefit although training will be provided if required
Ability to work under pressure with different functional areas Strong technical background with a keen desire to improve understanding & knowledge of engine systems
Accountability for components, projects & sub-tasks Delivery and customer focused approach
