| We currently require a knowledgeable lead engineer for an aerospace client based in Hampshire. Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer you will have responsibility for the execution of projects of ordinary technical complexity with appreciable latitude for unreviewed action. A predominant part of the projects are concerned with design or design modification of existing products. Responsibility: Plan, direct and conduct design, design modification and/ or development assignments involving a specific part of a large project or one or more small projects, characterized by the small size of the work force involved, and/ or by their technical complexity requiring the utilization of specialized knowledge and broad experience. Collaborate in determination of requirements and scope of assigned engineering projects and studies. Determine method of accomplishment, manpower and facilities utilization, and schedules required for fulfilment of assignment. Determine design concept and approach and evaluate, select and adapt standard criteria, techniques and procedures to resolve difficult problems and complicating factors. Discuss resolution of novel or controversial aspects of work with superior to obtain guidance and assure coordination of efforts. Plan, schedule and coordinate detailed phases of project assignments involving the utilization of a small group of engineering personnel. Assign individual tasks including layout and detail drafting, design calculation and analysis, test and development follow-up, and the like. Provide guidance and instruction and check work to assure conformance to objectives and schedules. Report capabilities and performance of assigned personnel to superior for consideration and recognition. Consult with other activities to provide assistance on solution of difficult engineering problems requiring incumbent's specialized knowledge and/ or broad experience. Review and analyze problems and develop alternate engineering approaches. Assemble existing data and make check calculations to identify and correct focal point of problem involving the substantial adaptation of interpretation of conventional criteria and precedents. Plan and develop test programs and projects and/ or prepare test procedures to obtain required performance, functional and design data. Analyze test results and correlate with performance and operational specifications to determine design feasibility and/ or test program reliability. Prepare sketches and rough drawings and design conceptions to use as guides for design layout activities and check finished drawings. PROBLEM SOLVING Duties are performed following generally stated objectives for the projects of project phases usually involving frequent conferences with higher-level engineering executives. Has appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
