| Our client is looking for an experienced C++ Software Engineer to work for the on-going development and support of simulation systems used in the R&D of airspace development programmes. Principal Accountabilities -Produce technical requirement specifications or provide input to them. -Design solutions at a software component level. -Write code to Simulator Asset Engineering coding standards to implement software components. -Perform Unit Testing, including writing unit test specifications. -Analyse and rectify faults with software components. -Perform system testing and any intersystem tests against test specifications. -From a planning and delivery perspective, take responsibility for software development activities. This will include estimating the effort and resources involved with these activities. -Generate and review project documentation, including requirement specifications, design specifications, technical notes, unit test specifications and user guides. -Contribute to feasibility studies and continuous improvement activities. -Supervise and guide less experienced software engineering staff. Experience, Qualifications & Skills: -An honours degree in a computer related, engineering or numerate subject or an equivalent educational qualification as defined by a chartered professional body such as the BCS / IET. -In-depth knowledge and experience of the C++ programming language is required. -Significant experience of software development for Unix and / or Microsoft Windows operating systems is required. -Experience of Visual Basic or .net on windows applications. -Background within commercial technical applications software or defence Desirable: -Chartered Engineer or working towards achieving Chartered Engineer status. -Knowledge of databases or SQL server highly desirable -Experience of Visual Basic or .net applications. Personal qualities: -Applicants should be self starters, with experience of working in a multi-disciplined team environment. -Have a desire to promote and support continuous improvement. -Must have effective written and oral communication skills, coupled with the ability to quickly grasp and assimilate technical details from various sources.
