| Our client is responsible for the Capital's entire transport system. The company is looking for an experienced Human Factors Engineer. Job Purpose: Support the Company's philosophy and provide the principal resource in human factors methodologies and human-machine interfaces to major refurbishment projects, co-ordinating with staff in related disciplines, particularly systems engineering and operations representatives. Main Responsibilities: - Monitor the application of the human factors standards and other supporting documents to the works required in the various projects - Review submissions as part of E1008 with regards to Human Factors, and accepting or rejecting the suppliers work based on sound engineering judgement - Assisting Project Managers with the commissioning and management of contractors in respect of human factors issues - Propose and develop practices to ensure human factors disciplines are effectively applied during the complete life cycle of projects, in particular a programme of major refurbishments envisaged to enhance the railway, such as Line Upgrades. - Establish and exploit sound working relationships with staff in related disciplines, particularly systems engineering - Assist with the enhancement of engineering practice throughout the company by promoting human factors capabilities across a range of projects - Assist in the management and co-ordination of a team of engineering staff - Work with equivalent staff in the supplier organisations and other external parties - Ensure that the suppliers responsibilities as asset steward are satisfied and that appropriate HF integration is provided to interfacing projects - Give various presentations to personnel at all levels in the company - The jobholder will also be required to deliver training intervations for Human Factors The minimum requirements: - A degree in an appropriate discipline, preferably a Masters degree in Ergonomics or Human Factors. - Membership of the Ergonomics Society of Great Britain - Experience in working on high profile large engineering projects as the main Human Factors Engineer - Chartered status and membership of an appropriate engineering institution are desirable - Broad knowledge of railway operations and related procedures, together with some experience of job management activities - Detailed knowledge of human factors engineering disciplines is essential, together with a working knowledge of areas such as systems engineering - Computer literacy in standard office packages is required, combined with experience in systems engineering tools, eg. requirements management, fault tree analysis, decision processes.
