| As part of the business unit management team, to co-ordinate activities across the functional areas of the organisation to ensure the successful delivery of projects. To project manage contracts to achieve a quality product, delivered on time, to specification and within budget. To provide management team colleagues with project status in terms of delivery, quality, risk and budget. Key Responsibilities To act as the team leader and programme planner for the allocated projects. To provide the central point of contact to the customer and/or end user. Responsibility for control of project budgets and allocated costs and timescales. To develop positive working relationships with customers, suppliers and internal departments to ensure that information is shared. To prepare and review project plans and progress reports. To hold regular project review meetings. To work with management team colleagues to develop and continuously improve project management processes based on the principles of PRINCE2 and in accordance with group policy. Key Competencies Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to communicate and work with people at all levels. Sound judgement and decision making ability. Creative problem solver. Ability to influence and negotiate with customers, suppliers and internal customers to meet common goals. Excellent organisation skills to manage several projects simultaneously. Genuine team player who works well with others within a small unit. Demonstrates maturity and confidence by sharing successes and challenges with colleagues. Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications A degree or HND qualified in an Engineering discipline A qualification in Project Management (PRINCE2 preferred), Contract Management or man management would be an advantage A background in aerospace and defence would be an advantage. Skill in preparing technical reports and presentations for customers and suppliers Sound literacy and numeracy skills. Outstanding communication and inter-personal skills at all levels. Computer literate, especially Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project Experience 3 to 5 years experience of managing projects in a defence industry. Experience of managing multiple projects to a value to 5 million plus Experience of managing a prime contractor or first tier subcontractor in a defence environment Experience of supervising and performance managing team members to meet deadlines General The successful candidate will form part of the Clients Engineering team and will be lead on customer projects within the organisation Ideally the candidate will have a driving licence and the ability to work outside core hours on occasion and to travel to customer and supplier sites.
