| As a Safety Engineers you would be responsible for co-ordinating the evaluation of risk-related evidence in support of the production, by multi-disciplinary teams for new and modified military aircraft. Safety Engineers will also be engaged in the production of safety cases, the independent review of third-party systems. Safety Engineers will also be expected to provide specialist technical support to customers, acting as independent assessors, advisers, or auditors (ISA). Key Accountabilities > Preparing, cooperatively with other technical specialists, bids for submission to prospective customers. > Working with customers, and multi-disciplinary project teams of technical specialists, to define evaluation requirements > Developing strategies to identify and obtain the safety evidence required to underpin MA Release recommendations > Evaluating safety evidence provided by suppliers or technical specialists > Evaluating risk, within multi-disciplinary project team, throughout the project lifecycle > Liaising with Project Managers, Customers, Suppliers, and technical specialists from a variety of disciplines > Coordinating safety activities within projects > Training and mentoring technical specialists in the application of safety evaluation techniques > Drafting reports and recommendations Professional Capabilities/Competencies > A Degree, or HNC, in Electronics Engineering or Avionics > Experience in avionics, safety evaluation, or systems engineering. > Safety assessment techniques such as HAZOP, FMECA, FTA, etc > Knowledge of system lifecycles > Experience of working to standards such as JAR-25, Defence Standard 00-56, Mil Std 882, or ARP4761 etc > Experience as an ISA > Experience of dealing with Senior Management and Customers in a technical environment > Experience/knowledge of military aircraft advantageous - but not essential > Experience of safety case production/review/evaluation > Experience Land, Sea or Rail systems Essential Personal Qualities/Behavioural Characteristics > Good oral and written communication skills > Strong inter-personal skills > Effective team work > Ability to work to challenging and firm deadlines. > Prepared to go on detachments in the UK and overseas.
