| *Draft, negotiate and agree minor contracts through to complex and high-risk contracts and business arrangements between customers to maximise the advantage to the business *Manage all major and minor existing contract activities effectively, ensuring the swift and effective resolution of issues *Develop, maintain and manage relationships in assigned major existing customers to ensure the effective management of business agreements and contracts from the cradle to the grave *Contribute to or assist in the co-ordination of overall pricing policies and develop cost/pricing structures to ensure a sound commercial basis is maintained in line with overall policies *Lead in the tender vet process to ensure all developing business opportunities and bids meet agreed commercial criteria, including profitability and risk minimisation. *Provide advice and guidance on commercial, contractual and legal issues to facilitate effective business decision-making and the effective resolution of issues and disputes, including customer complaints *Provide support to the negotiation and agreement of subcontract arrangements through to complex and strategic subcontract arrangements to minimise risk and maximise the advantage to the business. *Identify risks in relation to assigned major contracts/business arrangements. *Proposing responses in line with policies in order to maximise business return through to developing and overseeing the operation of strategies and policies for managing commercial risk. *Keep up to date with and research new commercial developments in assigned areas and assist in assessing their advantage to the company. *Lead, develop and motivate reporting staff, ensuring they are fully aware of and capable of meeting their accountabilities *Contribute to developing and maintaining commercial procedures and policies, and implement them in assigned major areas to support improved business effectiveness. Requirements *Professionally qualified QS/Commercial Manager *Strong commercial management background on civil engineering projects, specifically Roads/Highways *Commercially astute with excellent negotiating skills. *Team player with good communication skills and an approachable yet assertive style. | ||
