Job Description:
Our client, part of a major UK based food group has a very attractive manufacturing manager role available in East London.

Job Purpose
To deliver health and safety, quality, service, cost and people performance targets by leading, directing, motivating, coaching and performance managing a shift based team. To drive and implement continuous improvement and sponsor change.

Key Accountabilities
> Shift Responsibility for production area and output including performance target and attainment
> Technical management of the shift to include compliance to QAS standards, identifying and preparing action plans to reduce customer complaints, and timely completion of necessary audits
> Support any NPD activity within the department with correct and timely management of recipes and trials
> Advocate and drive quality initiatives such as a Clean as you Go culture, production within tolerances, and other programmes
> Support and involvement with capital/equipment projects
> Delivery of the people plan for the shift team to include annual PAR's for direct reports
> Full support and implementation of training requirements. This will include identifying training needs, devising training matrices, coordinating training plans, and ensuring training is carried out and new practices are adhered to.
> Ongoing communication with shift employees through briefings, conversations, and other methods to ensure a focus on a results driven and employee engaged culture
> Absence Management and Disciplinary involvement of all staff
> Health and Safety management on shift to include promoting Health and Safety, PPE wear, management of risk assessments, period inspections. This will also include accident investigation (when appropriate) and ownership of any improvement issues that are identified in the investigation.
o Make all existing safe systems of work known to staff and monitor compliance
o Ensure all staff are aware of any relevant new operations and procedures
o Instruct all employees as to their responsibilities
o Ensure all staff is inducted in H&S matters and any risks in the specific area of work before commencing work.
o All relevant staff receive training on the required tasks and to assess this training on an ongoing basis
o All accidents involving relevant employees are personally investigated, utilising the company procedure
o Safety representatives are informed of all reportable incidents at the time of the incident
o The place of work is maintained in a safe condition and that fire doors / exits are kept clear at all times
o All defects are reported to the appropriate persons immediately to ensure repairs are completed
o Provide adequate guidance, instruction, training and supervision, in order to maintain a safe working environment
