| Our client, the chilled foods arm of the UK largest food group require an experience Production Manager in Newport. Experience of line managing up to 70 people is ideal. JOB PURPOSE To continually improve management of people and process against agreed targets and objectives. To include forward planning of people/materials/equipment KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES > Management of staff in section o Attendance/timekeeping, minimum of 1st level disciplinarians, annualised hours, holidays, shift handovers, section communication- daily feedback, return to works, ensure availability of adequate multi skilled team, ensure team adequately trained (liaising with the training department), ensure effective team briefs take place (with two way feedback), ensure forward labour planning - monthly > To ensure all staff work within a safe environment o Ensure new starters undergo a section induction, accidents to be reported immediately, accident investigations, ensuring employees undertake basic training (H&S, Food Hygiene, HACCP, Manual handling, Chemical handling), be proactive in preventing accidents, job rotation (as required), responsible for ensuring SSOW/Risk Assessments are completed for area > To ensure all products are produced to the required quality standards and product specification, whilst ensuring hygiene standards for your section o Ensure staff are trained in product quality standards, aim for right first time o Monitor and where required, take preventative/corrective action in relation to: micro, customer complaints, assessment grades, GMP audits, return to manufactures and rejections > To control materials within the section o monitoring and control stocks, waste (& cost of), usage variance, responsible for area stock checks on weekly basis > To ensure production efficiencies and productivity are achieved for section o Accurately and timely completion of SICS and DWORS, all outloads to be achieved, deliver continuous improvements > Provide support for other Section Controllers & Section Managers, by covering absence/holidays/training etc > Development of Operatives identifying and developing key skills, knowledge and experience where necessary, and in relation to career development/succession > To carry out ad hoc projects/investigations as required KNOWLEDGE & SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS Essential > Understanding of the fundamentals of food production > Minimum 5 years practical supervisory experience in FMCG, with preferably a minimum of one year within chilled food environment at a similar level > ILM or equivalent 1st line management qualification > Experience of GMP, HACCP, product assessment, customer complaints, materials management -investigating and taking corrective action as necessary > Must have strong interpersonal skills, able to drive changes, and identify possible upgrades To apply for this position, candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK Matchtech Group Plc is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy. | ||
