| We have a vacancy within our Portsmouth Shipbuilding Facility for a Pipeshop Team Leader. Key responsibilities: -Liasing with the Mechanical Manager on the training and recruitment of apprentices, - Updating the skills matrix, in conjunction with the Mechanical Manager and liasing with the Training manager, ensuring all training courses are carried out with minimal disruption to the projects, - Overviewing the departmental role call to ensure that it remains accurate, - Controlling the labour supply to the projects, this includes dealing with overtime requests and liasing with shop stewards, - Reviewing standard procedures and codes of practice as required, - Liasing with the planning department regarding work programmes and job numbers within the pipeshop, - Updating weekly work programmes, signing off completed work within the Pipeshop, - Breaking down job cards from work programmes, into manufacturing requirements, - Booking job number bookings on open options for pipeshop staff, - Recording holidays on open options for mechanical staff, - Checking consignment materials supplies, ensuring levels are adequate, - Ensuring working practices are kept up to standard, - Attending weekly labour meetings to discuss the allocation of labour resources, - Review and maintain all risk assessments and COSHH records within the pipeshop, - Managing the specialist tools / welding equipment within the production shop, ensuring all tools are calibrated, - Conducting daily briefs to workshop staff, - Facilitating the necessary logistics involved in integrating Ship Support in to the Pipeshops scope of work. Role Requirements: - Create conditions in which the entire team can develop to become the best they are able to be and so operate at the highest level possible, - Create and maintain a positive open and interactive culture that will be based on trust and independence, - Operate independently by making decisions based on facts and data, as well as being an effective team player. The successful candidate will: - Have proven experience within a mechanical discipline, - Have proven people management experience, - Have a pro active approach to problem solving, - Good knowledge of absence management, - Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word / Excel / Powerpoint).
