| This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer or a scientist to join the R&D team to work on the development of new biopharmaceutical products This position is to take R&D responsibility for the development of new sterilising filter cartridges and associated up-scale filter ranges. The New Product Development (NPD) program follows a 5 Year Plan, evolved in close liaison with Marketing. The position of R&D Engineer is both an engineering and project management role, and will involve working with Marketing, Manufacturing, suppliers & the Applications Group, among others. Initial project work will involve finalising the Product Target Specification with Marketing, compiling the Risk Analysis (both DFMEA & PFMEA), project planning (MSProject), writing test protocols etc,. This is followed by investigation of processes and techniques to achieve the goals and the initial design of the product. The next stage is to manufacture various prototypes that you have proposed, using different materials of construction and proprietary Pall manufacturing equipment, and to test and analyse the results to optimise the performance. This is followed by Engineering Studies & DOE's leading to the manufacture of OQ batches and subsequently arranging and analysing validation testing. During the project you will be compiling the Master File document which needs to be approved before the PQ runs are carried out, leading to Release to Manufacture. R&D are the main drivers in the NPD projects and you will normally take responsibility for arranging and chairing regular Focus Team meetings to ensure the Team is making progress and the project is on time. The client has various manufacturing plants around the UK, and the world, and the job would involve travel to oversee prototype and manufacturing runs. Biopharm cartridge R&D is based at Portsmouth but you would also work closely with the media development Team, who are mainly located in the USA. To be considered for this role you will need specific experience of product development and this experience must be related to the pharmaceutical, healthcare or medical device sector. This can be from wither an engineering or a scientific angle.
