| We currently require a Design Office Manager for an international aerospace client based in the South. Ideally you will have a strong knowledge of Design office management. Your role will be to manage the Design, Stress and Drawing Office activities utilising tools to meet the company's standard philosophies and work practices. You will also be require to manage Design, Stress and Drawing Office to produce design solutions that meet customer requirements to cost and schedule. Responsible for the development and implementation of integrated Design methods, processes and standards. Key Responsibilities Supervise and manage the Design, Stress and Drawing Office activities. Chair/Attend Design Assessments/Reviews and, if required, FRB, MRB, IMC, LMC etc. Approve estimates of Design, Stress and Drawing Office related work packages. Liaise with Customer. Ensure DFSS, DFMA and DFR methods are utilised. Ensure design process adheres to PRO-Launch requirements. Develop the methods and tools for Concurrent Engineering. Ensure latest CAD and Analysis software and associated hardware are being utilised. Determine and implement lean working methods and procedures and develop on-line design standards. Undertake subordinate staff performance and development reviews (APEX). Ensure the company targets are met w.r.t. standard philosophies and work practices. Approve subordinate staff holidays, sickness and overtime. Ensure staff training requirements are both identified and met. Ensure staffing resource levels are compatible with profit plan. Ownership of Design to Cost Process. Experience required At least 5 years Technical Management experience in a relevant professional engineering environment ideally gained in the Aerospace or equivalent high technology industry. Proven ability and demonstration of the skills necessary for managing a technical team, developing appropriate relationships at all levels of the organisation, the ability to work well within a team and on your own initiative. Working knowledge of a product life cycle process.
