| Marine Superintendent needed to be based in Fawley, Southampton To apply for this position, candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK Marine Superintendent Required to be based in Fawley, Southampton. The Marine Superintendent is responsible and accountable for all aspects of Marine Safety and the Process Operation on the Marine Terminal. To provide specialist advice and assistance on all matters related to the safe operation of all ship types calling at the refinery, including crude, product, LPG, chemical and specialist products. The Marine Superintendent is expected to take appropriate action with vessels that fail to meet the standards which may include offering repair/operational advice or removal of the ship from the terminal. The Marine Superintendent is responsible for the operators on the terminal. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Conduct initial safety inspection on all vessels visiting FMT. * Closely adhere to and develop where necessary, operating guidelines and procedures for all matters of marine safety. * Provide specialist advice on cargo and vessel mooring operations for the nine berths at Fawley, including tidal calculations. * Conduct incident investigations, prepare bulletins and propose recommendations to prevent recurrence. * Conduct frequent and regular spot checks on vessels to ensure all procedures and safe operating practices are maintained throughout the vessels stay at Fawley. * Provide specialist advice to Operations Planning on the suitability of vessels that visit, or are planned to visit Fawley. * Liaise with Southampton Port Pilots on their activities in safely bringing all ships into Fawley. * Appointing independent operations safety co-coordinator to join a vessel. * Maintain a data base of all ships that visit Fawley, ensuring follow up activities on vessel problems are adequately handled by IMT. * Safety, operational and environmental advice is given to ships' crews, the process crews and supervision, which must be timely, technically and legally accurate to satisfy Corporate and Legislative requirements and improve performance. * Work closely with the International Marine Transportation and Supply Commercial Groups to ensure that proper screening procedures are followed for all vessels offered to Fawley. * Maintain a database of screening activities. * Provide key role in the event of a shipboard spill and provide oil spill back-up in shore spills. * Provide IMT with VPR's on all vessels that visit. * Conduct audit of Independent Cargo Inspectors. * Conduct regular 1-1's with Esso Process crew at the FMT and complete their annual appraisals Matchtech Group Plc is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy. | ||
