| Role The Engineering Manager (EM) has overall technical responsibility for all the projects undertaken by the office. The EM will work closely with the Project Manager (PM) to ensure that the solutions provided are of minimum cost whilst being technically acceptable and in accordance with the client specifications. The Company's Engineering Manager will provide guidance and support to the successful candidate. The EM will be flexible and willing to undertake other engineering roles when necessary. Objectives Project Strategy - In conjunction with the PM and engineering staff the EM will actively participate in the development of the strategies for maximising the commercial returns on the projects undertaken by the office. Recruitment The PM will identify any requirements for additional engineering personnel and the EM, in conjunction with the PM will undertake the selection process. Resource Management The PM will have the primary responsibility for managing the work allocation of the engineering staff but the EM is expected to actively contribute to this process based on his experience and knowledge of the engineering team. Line Management The engineering team report to the EM. The EM will be responsible for all personnel matters, including ensuring that the standards and procedures detailed in the Company Handbook are adhered to. However the PM will be responsible for the allocation of work to a project. Project Support The EM will provide a comprehensive support service for the PM and engineering staff covering all aspects of project execution: technical, management, health and safety, and quality. Sales Support The EM will provide a comprehensive technical and lifecycle support service to the sales team. As part of these activities, where required, the EM will actively participate in the development of bid strategies, estimate reviews and undertake presentations to prospective customers. Infrastructure, tools and equipment The EM will be responsible for ensuring that the local infrastructure, tools and equipment are appropriate to the business and maintained. Project Work The EM will be required to undertake project work, where necessary. Where project work is undertaken then it shall be such that it does not significantly disrupt the primary management role. On this basis it is likely that project work will be limited to either technical management or design activities. Quality Management The EM will be the local quality assurance representative and will ensure that The Company's Quality Management System is applied to all projects undertaken by the office. In addition the EM will provide consultative support to the PM, sales personnel and engineers in respect of the lifecycle management and quality control. Health and Safety The EM will be the local Health and Safety representative and will ensure that The Company's Health and Safety procedures are adhered to.
