| Overall Purpose/Objectives of Role 1. To be responsible for managing all aspects of the manufacturing systems engineering function to achieve agreed Company objectives. 2. To work closely with and actively contribute to the overall success of the senior manufacturing management team. Key duties: 1. To provide inspirational leadership with clear focus and direction to the Department to ensure contribution to the achievement of agreed Company objectives is maximised. 2. To manage the Department on a day-to-day basis, including development and day-to-day HR issues. 3. To take full ownership and maximise the contribution of all resources (people and equipment) allocated to the Department. 4. To monitor and review on an ongoing basis existing manufacturing tools, techniques and processes and benchmark them against best practice. 5. To plan, implement and monitor any improvements in manufacturing tools, techniques and processes to provide maximum benefit to the business. 6. To plan, implement and monitor all new product/variant introductions with emphasis on efficient factory layout and optimising capital equipment, taking into account overall manufacturing philosophy. 7. To review product engineering design data for all new product/variant introductions and influence design direction to increase awareness and ensure embodiment of latest manufacturing techniques. 8. To represent manufacturing at design review meetings to ensure awareness of latest manufacturing techniques and influence decisions taken towards 'design for test' and 'design for manufacture'. 9. To lead the ongoing training of and communication to employees in all aspects of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement. 10. To effectively manage the estimating process within manufacturing. 11. To implement robust corrective action plans that identify the root cause of a problem then fix and eliminate recurrence.
