| Our client have a role available for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to work at their Portsmouth Site. Main Activities will include: - To manage all aspects of New Product Introduction to Production on a day to day basis, to ensure that all technical, programme and cost issues are executed according to the Company standards and customer satisfaction. - Deploy integrated and systematic processes with the production department to achieve the department production plan. - To set clear Production and improvement targets and ensure that these are measured and achieved. (short,-term, mid-term & strategic) - To prepare and manage R&T and technology development planning. Assure co-ordination with the facility planning, investment and process development. - To identify any Production facility or resource limitations (including staff availability) preventing successful project completion while ensuring resolution of the issues. - To identify and mitigate operational, performance and technical risks through systematic monitors, develop a culture of ownership, awareness and agility with your team and interfaces.. - To build and maintain a positive relationships with Customers and Stakeholders. - To implement the Production strategy in accordance with Astrium standards. - To ensure that all deliveries and processes in relation to the Production are in accordance with customer and Company Product Assurance directives. - To implement all other necessary resources to enable the Production strategy. - Exercise strict control over Production costs and resource levels, ensuring that all project milestones are achieved and projects are progressed on schedule and within cost profiles. - To be responsible for all Company health, safety, environment and design policies within the Production organisation. - To develop and implement the New Product Introduction processes and procedures with the Production Department. - To establish and maintain documented procedures appropriate to the Production organisation. - To ensure the continuous development of the manufacturing engineering skill base within ASP, ensure manpower levels are resourced and skills developed for current and future needs. - Lead in developing and attracting talented, enthusiastic experts to the Manufacturing Engineering Team through use of apprenticeship and undergraduate placements. - To be prepared to travel as required by stakeholders Skills Required for the Job - Honours degree or equivalent (MBA or equivalent advantageous), with 5 years experience of Production Management within the space, aerospace or military electronics engineering sector. - Experienced in managing an expert team. Accomplished in team building, decision-making and target setting. - Excellent interpersonal skills including communication, presentation and motivation. - Proactive, visionary with the proven ability to implement change to the benefit of the business. - Proven ability to work on a number of interrelated issues. - Familiar with all aspects of the project life cycle from design to production, including formal reviews, programme control, risk management, cost control and customer negotiation. - Able to deploy a vision for delivering operational efficiency and agility within an operations environment with extensive knowledge / experience of project management systems, planning, supply chain strategies, ERP and MRP2.
