Job Description:
In the middle of a global recession my automotive Client has successfully won a major new project which can only be good news. There is an immediate and urgent need to staff up as quickly as possible for a production project in automotive automatic transmission development.

Senior Transmission Design Engineer

Target for Interviews: w/c 15th June
Target Start Date: 1st July


Objectives of Role
> To implement industry best practice for all aspects of Transmission Design.
> Design of transmissions using ProE wildfire.

Key Duties/Responsibilities
> Produce design schemes & layouts
> Produce 3D models.
> Produce component drawings for both prototype and production manufacture.
> To liaise effectively with technical staff and suppliers.
> Participate in FMEA's and structured problem solving teams.
> Interpret and translate analysis into working designs.
> To lead and prepare work packages for other Design Engineers, as required.


Qualifications Required Engineering Degree, Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications Preferred Degree (>2.1) in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering

Experience Required
Minimum of 5 years experience in Automotive Powertrain
Transmission Design. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and drawing tolerancing.

Experience Preferred 5-10 years experience of manual and/or automatic car gearboxes design. Including for example, shafts, bearings, gears (including planetary), casings, clutches & brakes, park brakes and selector mechanisms.
